Re-skimming is re-plastering your old walls by applying PVA/ a bonding agent to walls followed by 2 thin coats of multi finish. This makes old tired walls look fresh and smooth ready for painting or wallpapering.

Cement rendering is the application of a premixed layer of sand and cement to brick, cement, stone or mud brick. It is often textured, coloured or painted after application. It is generally used on exterior walls but can be used to feature an interior wall. We provide sand and cement render services both small and large from small repair patches to entire houses.

Floor Screeding

Floor screed is the process of applying and levelling out a mixture of sand and cement material to form a sturdy floor that is capable of taking on the final floor finish or act as a final wearing surface. At Charing Plastering and Flooring we have extensive experience with floor screeding and our team are experts. We cover all types of original flooring and are able to work with underfloor heating.

Rough casting

Rough casting is a coarse plaster surface used on outside walls made of sand, cement and stones. It has a similar texture to pebbledash except a rough casted finish needs to be painted.

Pebble dashing

Pebbledash is a coarse plaster surface used on outside walls that consists of lime and sometimes cement mixed with sand, small gravel, and often pebbles or shells. Pebbledash was very popular in the 1930’s as it is a decorative yet hardwearing finish. As with cement render we are able to provide both repair and new work with pebble dashing, from small patches to entire houses.

Plaster boarding

Plaster boarding is the surface that multi finish plaster can be applied to. We are able to apply plasterboard to existing brickwork, known as a method called ‘dot and dabbing’, or make rooms in houses from bare framework. Along with plaster boarding we are able to insulate rooms and houses to give you the best sound control and thermal qualities.

Not many plasterers are still able to plaster using lime but Charing Plastering and Flooring have many years of experience working with it and repairing old cherished buildings trying to keep their original look.
